West Coast Sales Representative

Location: Remote (based on the West Coast, USA) with regional travel.  Preferably in Southern or Northern California

Position Summary

We seek a dynamic West Coast Sales Representative to drive new business and expand existing accounts within the region. You will be responsible for promoting Scilligence’s portfolio of software solutions—including electronic lab notebooks (ELN), LIMS, compound registration, and more—to pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic customers. This high-impact role requires strong technical aptitude, consultative sales skills, and a passion for enabling scientific innovation.

Key Responsibilities

   •   Business Development & Prospecting: Identify and qualify prospective customers within the West Coast territory, leveraging industry networks and proactive outreach strategies. We seek a strong “hunter” who can create new opportunities.

   •   Solution Consultation: Understand client needs, challenges, and research objectives to recommend the most suitable Scilligence solutions.

   •   Sales Cycle Management: Manage the entire sales cycle—from initial contact and product demonstrations to contract negotiation and closing.

   •   Account Management: Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients, ensuring satisfaction and uncovering upsell or cross-sell opportunities.

   •   Collaboration: Partner with internal teams (Marketing, Product Management, Support) to create targeted campaigns, refine product messaging, and assist with post-sales support.

   •   Market Intelligence: Gather and report on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to help shape product and marketing strategies.

   •   Sales Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all sales activities in CRM, forecast sales pipeline, and meet or exceed assigned revenue targets.

Qualifications & Skills

   •   Education: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field is strongly preferred.

   •   Experience: 3+ years of successful software sales experience, preferably within life sciences, biotech, or a related R&D environment.

   •   Technical Aptitude: Familiarity with ELN, LIMS, or related lab informatics systems; ability to quickly learn and effectively communicate technical product details.

   •   Sales Expertise: Proven track record of meeting or exceeding quotas in a territory-based or field sales role.

   •   Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; ability to tailor messaging to technical and business audiences.

   •   Interpersonal Skills: Strong relationship-building abilities, enthusiasm for collaborative problem-solving, and a commitment to exceptional customer service.

   •   Travel: Willingness to travel throughout the West Coast region (up to 50%), including occasional trips outside the area for trade shows or company events.
